I know we’re talking about Trade Agreements with China, but this is honestly so little of what’s going on. Because of TPP, (if you don’t know about TPP, my TPP tag is filled with tons of articles about it), there are multiple trade agreements to happen with multiple countries and as with the Trade Agreement with China, the government and corporations win on the backs of the people.
Along with Bill C-30 and Bill C-10 (my tag or google for both those bills, I’m not explaining what either of those are in this post) these trade agreements are an attempt to implement TPP which is like ACTA, but unlike ACTA, the agreement has been signed and the government is already looking at ways to implement it.
FTAs (Free Trade Agreements) between New Zealand, Japan, United States, Australia, Brunei, Canada, Chile, Malaysia, Mexico, Peru, Singapore, Philippines, South Korea, Thailand and Vietnam will all tie in to the TPP model. Trade agreements with Columbia, soon Jordan (Bill C-23) and Panama (Bill C-24), are part of NAFTA which was signed in 1994 and has had several trade agreements in play for years. All FTAs come at the price of human rights violations, for oil or cheap labor or what ever the FTA says. It is our parliament doing the biding of private corporations with these FTAs.
We are seeing the middle of NAFTA, the beginning of TPP and the end of human rights.
