Do you want a fucking cookie for not being the reason I’m so cautious with all men. Do you want an award for not being the reason I had to go in for counseling. A mother fucking standing ovation for your efforts to inform me that you are not my attacker, that you will not send me rape threats via text, that you will not be the story I tell to a therapist. Do you think your special for having the human decency to not go around attacking woman? Because that’s not human decency that’s not going out of your way to force sexual abuse and leave someone psychologically scarred for the rest of their life.

Then stop fucking prying away at what happened because I learnt early you don’t tell anyone what happened to you. Your friends will shame you and blame you. They’ll tell you well now it’s over and make you believe your lucky that your attacker is gone. But he’s never gone. He makes you cry yourself to sleep so you can wake up from a night terror a few hours later. Because not every man is my attacker but my attacker isn’t in prison.

If I trust you enough to tell you what happened to me and you decide it’s your place to tell me “well not all men are like that” when I never implied they were, then I’m never going to trust you with anything. You’re fucking wrong. It’s never over. There is not one part of me that doesn’t fear leaving the house, not one part of me that trusts anyone. I cry for hours on end because of what happened and all you care about is telling me that you’re not like that. This isn’t about you.

So don’t tell me “not all men are like that”
